About NursingPrep Central
We build practice material for the exams that decide whether someone gets into a nursing programme, through it, and licensed at the end. Our whole argument is simple: your study time is limited, so every hour of it should land on the thing that will actually move your score.
Why we exist
The Exam Is Not the Hard Part. Knowing What To Study Is.
Almost every student preparing for the TEAS, the HESI A2 or the NCLEX has the same experience. There is an enormous amount of material, a fixed date, and no reliable signal about which parts of it are actually costing marks. So the hours go into re-reading the topics that already feel comfortable, and the weak areas stay weak until the score report says so.
That is a measurement problem, not a motivation problem. It is solved by practising under realistic conditions, reading why each answer is right, and letting the results decide what comes next. That is the entire shape of this platform.
The second problem is cost. Prep packages routinely run into hundreds of dollars, at exactly the point in someone's life when they are paying tuition and cutting their hours to study. A large part of what we publish, including study guides, section breakdowns and planning tools, is free and needs no account, because the students who most need it are the ones least able to pay for it.
What we believe
The Principles Behind Every Decision We Make
These shape what we build, what we charge for, and what we leave out.
Understanding beats memorising
A student who knows why an answer is right can handle a question they have never seen. One who memorised the answer cannot. Every question we write is built around that difference, which is why the rationale matters more to us than the item.
Your time is the scarce resource
Most of our students are working, parenting or in clinicals while they study. The job of this platform is to make sure the hours they do have land on the right material, rather than to ask for more of them.
Accuracy before persuasion
When a marketing claim and an exam fact disagree, the fact wins and the claim gets rewritten. That has cost us some appealing sentences, and it is the reason you can trust the ones that remain.
Nursing should be reachable
The cost of preparation should not decide who gets into the profession. A substantial part of what we publish is free, permanently, and that is a deliberate business decision rather than a trial.
Built for the ward, not just the exam
The reasoning these exams assess is the reasoning that keeps patients safe. We write towards that, so the studying still counts on the day the exam is behind you.
Students tell us what is wrong
Every report about a question reaches a person, and the ones that turn out to be right get the item changed. A question bank nobody can correct becomes wrong slowly and invisibly.
How we build it
Four Things We Get Right
Not slogans. Each one changes what we build and what ends up in front of you.
Mapped to the published specification
Our subject and topic structure follows the specifications the exam bodies publish: the ATI TEAS 7 content specifications, and the NCSBN Test Plan for the NCLEX. When a body revises its plan, our coverage changes with it rather than staying on last year's structure.
Written by nurses, for the exam you are sitting
Questions are written to the reasoning each exam assesses rather than to general knowledge, and reviewed against the current specification before they reach the bank. An RN candidate and a PN candidate get different questions, because they are being assessed on different scopes of practice.
A rationale, not a correct letter
A question without an explanation teaches nothing beyond a score. 99% of the questions in our banks carry a written rationale that explains the correct answer and the distractors, because that is where practice turns into understanding.
The guides stay free
Section-by-section study guides, week-by-week plans and printable cheat sheets are published without an account and without an email form. Preparation should not begin with a paywall, and the students who need a free study guide most are the ones least able to pay for one.
